Guy Birkin kindly reworked Fragments of an absent summer for MyMemoryCollective project -http://leonrosado.wix.com/mymemorycollective#!home/mainPage . Enjoy is take on it.
His inspiration was, by his own words:
“The memory your track evoked was of a happy time at a party with friends. I remember hearing Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics, grabbing a friend and going to dance.
I used the bassline from Sweet Dreams as one of the parts in my track. It’s slowed down to a quarter of the original tempo and offset to the beat to get a dubby feel. In addition to including your original track with delay, I also processed it with granular synthesis and Fourier resynthesis. The rhythmic sounds and ‘melody’ fade in, like it sounds when you approach music from far away and it gets clearer.”
