Murió mi eternidad y estoy velándola
It is not so much the actual passing of Lou Reed but what it represents to me knowing that The Velvet Underground are finally gone.
To come to terms with the idea that part of what made my youth a marvelous place to be, is gone. Not that any recent music by Lou Reed, or John Cale, would ever make me feel as I did when I listened countless time to The Velvet Underground and Nico.
To become aware that my youth is gone is both tragic and inevitable.
That’s why this verse by César Vallejo is so true and somewhat sad.
Murió mi eternidad y estoy velándola. Loose translation - My eternity is dead and I am mourning it.
Velvet Underground and Nico is a very very special album, and since yesterday I finally accept that I will never relive it again.
